The upoko (heads) are detailed with intricate pakati (notches), adorned with native paua (abalone) shell and have been finished with kōkōwai (red ochre clay). These taonga were blessed at Te Rerenga Wairua, paying homage to our ancestors who have returned to Hawaiki and their ancient traditions that we continue to carry.
